RIKEN BioResource Center (RIKEN BRC) and GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences (GE) concluded an agreement for the transfer of bioresources containing green fluorescent protein (GFP bioresources) to investigators at academic institutions, on July 12, 2011. By generosity of GE, RIKEN BRC is able to distribute the GFP bioresources to universities and agencies of a government (Federal or State) for non-profit and academic research purposes without license fees. GFP bioresources include mice, Arabidopsis thaliana, cells, and genetic clones that incorporate GFP.

To use GFP bioresources based on the agreement, please note the following guidelines: |

For an investigator at a university or agencies of a government (Federal or State), please download SCHEDULE A, "Letter for Use Prior to Transmission of Biological Materials to Investigators at Academic Institutions" from RIKEN BRC's web site, fill in the form, and submit two signed copies to us together with two signed copies of RIKEN BRC's MTA. |

For an investigator at a not-for-profit institution but not a university or agency of a government, or an investigator at a for-profit entity, RIKEN BRC is required to consult with and obtain the authorization by Life Technologies Corporation prior to distribution of GFP bioresources. Please contact us. |

Use of GFP bioresources for Commercial Purposes is not permitted under SCHEDULE A.
"Commercial purposes" is defined in SCHEDULE A as follows:
"Commercial Purposes" means any activity by a party for consideration and may include, but is not limited to: (1) use of any of the Materials or their progeny or derivatives in manufacturing; (2) use of any of the Materials or their progeny or derivatives to provide a service (including screening), information, or data for consideration (provision of information, such as reports, to agencies providing grants to your institution is not a Commercial Purpose); (3) use of any of the Materials or their progeny or derivatives for therapeutic, diagnostic or prophylactic purposes; or (4) resale of the Materials or their progeny or derivatives, whether or not such Materials or their progeny or derivatives are resold for use in research. |

Please take note of the restrictions on use of GFP bioresources also set by GE in SCHEDULE B, "Non-Commercial Use GFP Transfer License Agreement", 2. Restrictions. |

Please understand that every six month RIKEN BRC is obligated to provide GE with a list of all of the institutions to which RIKEN BRC has transferred GFP bioresources and copies of SCHEDULE A. |
