| Laws and guidelines for laboratory animals and animal experimentation
| in Japan
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Japan has its own laws and guidelines concerning care, housing and use
of laboratory animals, and animal experimentation. "Law concerning the
protection and control of animals" has been partially amended since June
22nd 2005 (Law No. 68, 2005) and has become effective since June 1st
2006. The principles of three 'R's are stipulated in the Article 41 of
the amendatory law.

The Three 'R's
REPLACEMENT: Replacing animal experiments by methods not requiring
             experimental animals.
REDUCTION : Reducing the number of experimental animals per experiment.
REFINEMENT : Refining experiments on animals by minimizing animal
             discomfort.

| Mouse strains for freeze preservation
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Since enough number of embryos has been preserved, live mice of these
strains will be closed soon. It will take more than 3 months to recover
live mice from frozen stock. Please let us know as soon as possible,
if you plan to use the mice and request them alive.
