Disc1 Mutant Mouse : A Model for Depression and Schizophrenia
Depositor: RIKEN Genomic Sciences Center
Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital
RBRC02324 B6.Cg-Disc1<Rgsc1390>
RBRC02325 B6.Cg-Disc1<Rgsc1393>
Disc1 has been reported as a responsible gene for mental illness.
The mutant mouse with Q31L in Disc1 gene (Disc1<Rgsc1390>) showed
depressive-like behavior with defects and the other mutant mouse
with L100P in Disc1 gene (Disc1<Rgsc1393>) exhibited
schizophrenic-like behavior.

| Revision of the distribution fees for the bioresources
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The RIKEN BRC has been providing bioresources not only to scientists
in Japan but also to those in overseas with minimum fees solely to
reimburse the RIKEN BRC for a part of the preparation and handling
costs of the requested bioresources. Due to release of new bioresources
and changes in circumstances, it has become necessary to revise the
distribution fees. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

| The Gene-trap Mouse ES clones using UPATrap have been deposited.
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Gene-trap Mouse ES cell clones using UPATrap method developed by
Dr. Yasumasa Ishida (Nara Institute of Science and Technology) have
been deposited. These cells can be used in the in vitro differentiation
study. In addition, gene inactivated mouse line can be generated by
using these cell clones.

| Newly deposited mouse strains
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
These mice have been newly deposited to RIKEN BRC. They will be
available soon after rederivation. We appreciate depositors for their
contributions to the scientific community.

| Newly available mouse strains
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
These mice just have been rederived into our barrier facility.
These mice are now available for distribution.

| Mouse strains for freeze preservation
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Since enough number of embryos has been preserved, live mice of these
strains will be closed soon. It will take more than 3 months to recover
live mice from frozen stock. Please let us know as soon as possible, if
you plan to use the mice and request them alive.
