TH-GFP Transgenic Mouse : A Model for Visualizing Dopamine Neurons

Depositor: Dr. Kazuto Kobayashi (Fukushima Medical University)

   RBRC02095 B6.Cg-Tg(TH-GFP)21-31

Dysfunction of dopamine-producing neurons in the midbrain is
involved in some neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases such
as Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia. The TH-GFP transgenic
mouse was generated to express GFP in the majority of midbrain
dopamine neurons under the control of the rat tyrosine hydroxylase
gene promoter. This transgenic mouse is useful for visualizing
dopamine neurons to study the physiology and pathogenesis of
    dopamine neurons.

Please use the following sentence to clearly indicate the RIKEN BRC
as the source of the BIOLOGICAL RESOURCE in 'Materials and Methods'
of your publication.

Example : ABCDE mouse strain (RBRC12345) was provided by RIKEN BRC
which is participating in the National Bio-Resource Project of the
MEXT, Japan. (RBRC12345 : BRC No.)

The RIKEN BRC is a non-profit institution funded by the Japanese
Government. We are engaged in collecting, maintaining, multiplying,
storing and distributing bioresources, in order to support research and
development in the field of life sciences. The RIKEN BRC has been
providing bioresources not only to scientists in Japan but also to
those in overseas. To be able to continue our service to the
international scientific community, the RIKEN BRC needs to demonstrate
publicly our contribution to the scientific community by disclosing our
user's research publications.

According to Article 5 of the MTA we would like to request a reprint
of any published research paper that involved the BIOLOGICAL RESOURCE
supplied by RIKEN BRC.

| Japan Mouse Clinic has started
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------

RIKEN BRC Technology and Development Team for Mouse Phenotype
Analysis (Japan Mouse Clinic) has developed a systematic and
comprehensive phenotyping platform consisting of more than 400 test
items, based on the knowledge of pathogenesis of human diseases. Using
this system, the team performs more comprehensive and profound
phenotyping of mouse mutants. If you have any questions or comments
about Japan Mouse Clinic, please send an e-mail to swakana@brc.riken.jp.

| Newly deposited mouse strains
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------

These mice have been newly deposited to RIKEN BRC. They will be
available soon after rederivation. We appreciate depositors for their
contributions to the scientific community.

| Newly available mouse strains
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------

These mice just have been rederived into our barrier facility.
These mice are now available for distribution.

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
| Mouse strains for freeze preservation
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Since enough number of embryos has been preserved, live mice of these
strains will be closed soon. It will take more than 3 months to recover
live mice from frozen stock. Please let us know as soon as possible, if
you plan to use the mice and request them alive.
