| Distribution of Germ Cell Competent C57BL/6N ES Cell Lines
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Genetic modification by transgenesis and gene targeting has become a
well-established method to generate mouse models for the study of gene
functions. Functional annotation of these models is one of the biggest
challenges in the current biomedical sciences. Accurate phenotyping of
these models in the uniform genetic background is essential for this
purpose. The C57BL/6N strain is one of the major C57BL/6 substrains.
In recent years, efforts have been made worldwide to generate knockout
mouse resources of the C57BL/6N background.
The Cell Engineering Division of RIKEN BRC distributes a number of germ
cell competent C57BL/6N ES cell lines suitable for generating knockout mice.
Please contact cellqa@brc.riken.jp to obtain these useful resources.

| Newly deposited mouse strains
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
These mice have been newly deposited to RIKEN BRC. They will be available
soon after rederivation. We appreciate depositors for their contributions
to the scientific community.
Mitsubishi Kagaku Institute of Life Sciences (MITILS) has deposited 244
valuable mouse strains including genetically engineered mice to RIKEN
BioResource Center. These strains were generated at MITILS and cryopreserved
in the Mouse Embryo Bank of MITILS. Since MITILS is soon to cease operations,
RIKEN BioResource Center has accepted deposition of all the strains and
will ensure that researchers continue to have access to these valuable
genetic resources. We thank the developer scientists of the strains and
MITILS for their contribution to the research community.
Terms and conditions of use
1. The BIOLOGICAL RESOURCE shall be used only for academic research purposes
by a non-profit organization.
2. The RECIPIENT of a non-profit organization must make prior contact with
RIKEN BRC and negotiate with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation to use the
BIOLOGICAL RESOURCE non-academic research purposes.
3. In publishing the research results to be obtained by use of the BIOLOGICAL
RESOURCE in relevant journals and meetings, the RECIPIENT must stipulate
the source of the BIOLOGICAL RESOURCE and acknowledge Mitsubishi Chemical
Corporation.
4. The RECIPIENT agrees to the condition that RIKEN BRC shall inform
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation annually of the RECIPIENT organization,
the RECIPIENT name, the specific research purpose and the date of
distribution.

| Newly available mouse strains
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
These mice just have been rederived into our barrier facility.
They are now available for distribution.

| Mouse strains for freeze preservation
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The preservation of a sufficient number of embryos means that the live
mice of these strains will be closed soon. It will take more than 3 months
to recover live mice from frozen stock. Please let us know as soon as
possible if you plan to use these mice and request them alive.
