The 53rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for Laboratory Animal Science was held on May 10th -13rd at Kobe International Forum. We presented on Panel Exhibition, Luncheon Seminar, Oral Session, and Poster Session.
[Panel Exhibition]
"Contribution of the RIKEN BRC to the International Mouse Strain Resource"
We propagated the role of RIKEN BRC as the central organization of mouse resource in Japan, and contribution to the international scientific community.
[Lancheon Seminar]
"Infection of lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV)"
Last year, we found LCMV-infected mice in our SPF facility. We reported with Central Institute for Experimental Animals how the infected mice had passed through our medical inspection, and how we dealed with the problem. The establishment of our new inspection method for LCMV and the containment of the virus were critically acclaimed. We also disscused development of SPF method in our country.
[Oral Session]
"Detection of Ig Isotype from a small amount of mouse serum by using micro fluidic chip"
We introduced a quick method for detection of Ig Isotype from a small amount of mouse serum for the purpose to inspect the pathogen infection of the mice in RIKEN BRC.
"Phenotyping of mouse strains in RIKEN BRC"
We presented the phenotyping data for blood biochemistry, hematology, and morphological measures of mouse strains at RIKEN BRC. We already have updated the data on the web page.

[Poster Session]
"Freeze-presearvation of ovary from mutant mice in RIKEN BRC"
We introduced the method for freeze presearvation of ovary from mutant mice in RIKEN BRC. This method is very useful to preserve the neurological mutant mice which have deficiency in growth and reproduction.
