RIKEN BRC Visit to the National Laboratory Animal Center in Taiwan
Drs. Ike and Mekada, Experimental Animal Division, RIKEN BRC visited the National Laboratory Animal Center (NLAC) in Taiwan from Jan 11-17th 2009. They enjoyed facility tours at the NLAC in Taipei, and at the NLAC Southern Branch in Tainan that recently started operations in April 2008. At each center, they provided the NLAC staff with technical advice on microbiological monitoring and colony management, and discussed future collaborations between the NLAC and RIKEN BRC. On Jan 12th, Drs. Ike and Mekada talked about the recent activities of RIKEN BRC in a seminar at the NLAC. RIKEN BRC accepted six talented trainees from the NLAC into our training courses in both July 2006 and October 2008. Our visit was part of a continued mutual collaboration between the NLAC and RIKEN BRC. Drs. Ike and Mekada reported that they were very happy to see that every trainee had become a core member of the NLAC.
