- About 1.5 kb average insert size for short insert clones and ca. 2.5-4.0kb for longer full length clones.
- Clones were sequenced from both 5' and 3' termini to obtain longer reads and verify sequence. Sequence information is available from their web site

NIA/NIH Mouse 15K cDNA Clone Set
This mouse cDNA clone set was prepared by Dr Minoru Ko and colleagues (Tanaka et al., PNAS 97, 9127-9132) at the National Institute on Aging which is one of the 25 institutes and centers of the National Institutes of Health.
Full details of this clone set can be obtained from
http://lgsun.grc.nia.nih.gov/cDNA/15k.html.
The clone set has now been distributed widely and is currently in use by a number of microarray programmes in many countries.
The set has the following characteristics:
- About 15,000 'unique' cDNA clones were rearrayed from 52,374 ESTs from pre-and periimplantation embryos, E12.5 female gonad/mesonephros, and newborn ovary as follows.
- preimplantation embryos: unfertilized eggs
- preimplantation embryos: fertilized eggs
- preimplantation embryos: 2-cell embryos
- preimplantation embryos: 4-cell embryos
- preimplantation embryos: 8-cell embryos
- preimplantation embryos: 16-cell embryos
- preimplantation embryos: E3.5 blastocysts
- E7.5 extraembryonic
- E7.5 embryonic
- E12.5 female gonad/mesonephros
- newborn ovary
(Tanaka et al., 2000, Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A, 97: 9127-9132, PMID: 10922068)
- Up to 50% are derived from novel genes.
- About 1.5 kb average insert size.
- Clones were sequenced from 5' and 3' termini to obtain longer reads and verify sequence. Sequence information is available from their web site
(http://lgsun.grc.nia.nih.gov/cDNA/15k.html).
- 95% of the wells produce PCR products with 94% of the products comprising a single amplification band.
To see agarose gel images of the PCR products from each of the 159 plates please click here.
This 15K mouse cDNA clone set is provided by RIKEN DNA Bank as recombinant E.coli in 96-well plates.
