リコンビナント近交系(RI系統)は、２種類の近交系間の雑種第２代を起源に育成された近交系のセットです。 各系統の染色体は両親系統のどちらかに由来しており、領域ごとにその由来を示すSDP(Strain Distribution Pattern)を作成し各系統の表現型と比較することで、表現型を決定している遺伝子の染色体マッピングが可能となります。 特に、量的形質や遺伝子間の相互作用を有する多因子疾患の遺伝解析に有効です。 SMXAはSM/J系統とA/J系統を親系統として、我が国研究者により開発された国内唯一のRI系統群で、RI系統群の有用性を決定する系統数も十分あり、SDPも高密度に整備されています。 既に、多因子形質の遺伝解析に多くの成果をあげている日本独自の優れたRI系統です。
